Dorna Centre

Ways to Give

Your donation counts and will make a huge difference to the lives of our children and community.

What Is Dorna Centre, and Why Donate?

The Dorna Centre Home for Autism is the only organization of its kind in Kampala, Uganda, dealing exclusively with autism. Dorna Centre offers weekly boarding, day school, and different therapy options for children with severe and mild autism. Because most families cannot afford the fees, the Centre highly discounts services. Donations help Dorna Centre accept more children and continue providing therapy, education, meals, and care.

Challenges Children Face

Autistic children in Uganda face two major challenges. First, family poverty often makes specialized education and care unaffordable, with survival needs taking priority. Second, disability is often viewed culturally as a curse, which leads to neglect and isolation of children with special needs.

Why Your Giving Matters

Most parents at Dorna Centre are single mothers because many fathers abandon families due to stigma. Donations directly address access to essential autism services and strengthen acceptance, dignity, and loving care for every child.

Donation Programs

1. Sponsor a Child Program

2. Adopt-a-Meal Program

Dorna Centre provides two meals a day for each child, workers, and volunteers. Food is a major expense, and sponsoring meals or ingredients allows funds to support other critical child services.
